Switch Function

- Feb 17, 2019-

Fibre Channel switches have many different features, including support for GBIC, redundant fans and power supplies, partitioning, ring operations, and multiple management interfaces. Each feature adds operability to the entire switching network, and understanding these features can help users design a powerful, large-scale SAN. In general, the main functions of SAN fabric switches are as follows: self-configuring ports, loop device support, switch cascading, adaptive speed detection, configurable frame buffering, partitioning (based on physical ports and WWN-based partitioning), IP over Fiber Channel (IPFC) broadcast, remote login, Web management, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and SCSI interface independent device service (SES) are selected according to specific needs.
