What Is The Difference Between A General Switch And A KVM Switch?

The general switch is a bai network device. Network cards that connect multiple computers. 


 The switch is a store and forward device. The Ethernet switch adopts Store-Forward technology or Cut-Through technology to realize the forwarding of information frames, which is also called a switching hub. 


KVM is a display interface that allows multiple computers to share a set of monitors, keyboards and mice, and connect multiple computers. 


KVM: is the abbreviation of Keyboard Video Mouse. KVM switches allow users to access and control computers by directly connecting keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) ports. KVM technology does not require the target server to modify the software. This means that the target computer can be accessed at any time under the Windows BIOS environment. KVM provides true motherboard-level access and supports multi-platform servers and serial devices.


 KVM technology has evolved from the original basic SOHO office type to an enterprise IT basic computer room facility management system. You can easily and directly access servers and devices located in multiple remote locations from the kvm client management software.


 Switch means "switch" is a network device used for electrical (optical) signal forwarding. It can provide an exclusive electrical signal path for any two network nodes connected to the switch. The most common switch is an Ethernet switch. Other common ones include telephone voice switches, optical fiber switches, etc. 


 Swiching is a general term for technologies that send the information to be transmitted to the corresponding routing that meets the requirements by manual or automatic equipment according to the needs of transmitting information at both ends of the communication. Switches can be divided into wide area network switches and local area network switches according to different working positions. The wide-area switch is a device that completes the information exchange function in the communication system, and it is applied at the data link layer. The switch has multiple ports, each port has a bridging function, and can be connected to a local area network or a high-performance server or workstation. In fact, switches are sometimes called multi-port bridges.
